I know, I know—Halloween hasn’t even passed, and here I am already diving into Christmas! But honestly, is it ever too early to start embracing the holiday spirit? Especially when it involves creating something as heartwarming as a custom pet portrait for that special pet lover in your life.

This weekend, I had the absolute joy of painting my first holiday portrait of 2024: the adorable Benning, a charming doodle. For this piece, I opted for a darker paper background to enhance the warmth of the overall color palette. While at first glance Benning’s coat may seem primarily gray, it’s actually a beautiful blend of subtle tones, layered together to bring depth and texture to her portrait.
